Bedroom Staging Tips That Photograph Beautifully

Whether you are trying to sell your home, advertise a rental you own, or something in between, staging rooms for photographs is a big part of selling your space. Here are a few tips to help you stage like a pro.  Design for the Camera The first thing you need to do is to remember to design for the camera, and not for the end-user. Your goal is to make the bedroom look as perfect, welcoming, and cosy as possible, and this doesn’t always mean it looks the most usable.  Use Adairs flannelette quilt covers to create texture and draw the eye; don’t just throw one on the bed like you would if you were going to sleep in it.  Focus on the Bed Speaking of the bed, it should be the main focus of the room. Not only should it be the thing you pay the most attention to, but you should also design around it and use additional furniture and accessories to accentuate it.  This also means limiting the number of extras you place in the room, so people can focus on the bed and not be overwhelmed by too much furniture and other bedroom extras.  Beyond the Windows One small thing you may not pay attention to is what’s happening outside the room, particularly what can be seen through the windows. Never forget that the view from the bedroom windows is exceptionally important to potential buyers.  You may want to trim any plants or trees that can be seen through the windows, and give the windows a clean. If you can’t change what is outside, or you live in an apartment block, find the best angle and design the room with that angle in mind.  https://unsplash.com/photos/a-bedroom-with-a-white-bed-and-a-window-rHPfxiyMC14 Look at Different Angles Speaking of angles, one mistake many people make is trying to make the room look perfect from every angle. What they inevitably find out is that you spend hours making small adjustments, because every change you make for one angle ruins another one.  Instead, find three or four angles you really like and design for those. This will save you a ton of time and ensure that the angles you love are perfect without having to worry about anything else.  Mirrors Create Space If your bedroom is small, trying to create extra space, or at least the illusion of extra space, is a must. The humble mirror has always been brilliant at making a room appear bigger, and therefore, adding one to your bedroom can make a world of difference.  You don’t need anything massive that takes up the entire wall, because even a smaller dressing mirror can give you the same results. When placed at the right angle, you can easily create the illusion that even the smallest bedroom looks substantially bigger than it is.  Add Plants Plants are one of the best and easiest ways to add freshness to a room. They are great to look at, can add a ton of flair to any room, and you will struggle to find someone who wouldn’t want a beautiful plant in their bedroom.  If your bedroom is a bit darker or gloomier, plants can give it a hit of light and freshness it needs and drastically transform how the room looks. Additionally, people associate plants with the feeling of “clean,” which only adds to the room.  https://unsplash.com/photos/a-plant-with-leaves-p9CO-TM2srw Deep Clean Don’t forget that the design and styling choices you make won’t have the same effect if your bedroom isn’t clean. Many people may not realize that even the smallest amounts of dirt can be very obvious when you take high-quality, professional photos.  Because of this, it is important to take the time to deep clean your room before taking photos. Dust, clean the carpets, clear up any marks, and check the paint to ensure there aren’t any cracks or damage.  Remove Personal Items The one thing you want to avoid is potential buyers or renters not seeing themselves in your space. Your property becomes drastically more appealing when it looks like somewhere someone can live.  One detail that can ruin this is by having a lot of personal items in the space. It can be difficult for a potential buyer to find your space appealing if the photos are filled with family pictures, for example.  Therefore, be sure to remove all personal items from your bedroom. Keep the art and accessories neutral, and create a cosy feel.  Small Details Finally, never overlook all the small details that many people miss. For instance, wrinkles in your bed sheets and blankets won’t really matter to you, but they come across as messy in photos and when staging your room.  These small details make a massive difference to the overall look and feel of the room. Therefore, when you think you are finished staging, take the time to go over the room again and look for any small details that could detract from all the effort you have made.
